Minotabs belongs to the group tetracycline, which is used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Minotabs works by interfering with the ability of the bacteria to produce proteins, which is very essential to the growth and increase of numbers to the bacteria. Minotabs stops the spread of infection and the remaining bacteria are killed by the immune system or eventually die.
Minotabs is indicated for the treatment different infections caused by bacteria such as:
Acne vulgaris
Bronchitis
Eye infections
Gonorrhea
Infections of the ears, nose or throat
Infections of the urinary tract
Inflammation of the prostate gland due to infection
Inflammation of the urethra due to infection
Pelvic inflammatory disease
Pneumonia
Prevention of infections following surgery
Skin or soft tissue infections
Your doctor may prescribe Minotabs for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Before taking Minotabs tell your doctor if you have:
Abnormal muscle weakness
Decreased liver function
Long-term inflammation of skin and some internal organs
systemic lupus erythematosus
People taking medicines that may have side effects on the liver
Severely decreased kidney function
Kidney failure
Do not take Minotabs if you are allergic to its active ingredient or any of its inactive ingredients. If you have an allergy to Minotabs, stop taking Minotabs and immediately tell your doctor about it.
Minotabs should not be used during pregnancy as it may present harm to the unborn baby. Seek medical advice.
Minotabs is known to pass in small amounts in the breast milk. Caution should be used while taking Minotabs if you are breastfeeding an infant. Talk to your doctor for more information about Minotabs and nursing an infant.
The safety of minocycline in children has not been established.
Avoid taking Minotabs just before going to bed. To prevent irritation in the throat, take each dose of Minotabs by swallowing whole with plenty of water while standing or sitting.
Try taking each dose of Minotabs at the same time each day for best and most effective results.
Chances or risks of having side effects may be increased if a large amount of Minotabs is prolonged in use.
Take Minotabs at regular interval. Complete the prescribed course of Minotabs unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Stopping the course early increases the chance that the infection will come back and that the bacteria will grow resistant to the antibiotic.
Do not take iron preparations or indigestion remedies as the same time of taking Minotabs.
Take Minotabs exactly as prescribed by you doctor or as directed in the package. If you have any problems understanding it, ask your doctor about it. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets you need to take each day.
Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect any symptoms of an overdose of Minotabs.
There are no reported incidences of a Minotabs overdose.
Take the missed dose of Minotabs as soon as you remember. However, it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of Minotabs to avoid unwanted adverse side effects.
Along with the needed effects, Minotabs also has unwanted adverse effects. Tell your doctor if side effects occur.
Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following side effects of Minotabs:
Diarrhea
Inflammation of the pancreas
Abnormal reaction of the skin to light, usually a rash
Balance problems involving the inner ear
Dizziness
Nausea
Vomiting
Sensation of ringing, or other noise in the ears
Loss of appetite
Skin reactions such as rash and itch
Bowel infection resulting in inflammation of the bowel lining
Liver disorders
Difficulty or pain when swallowing
Mild increase in pressure within the skull
Overgrowth of the yeast Candida
thrush
Staining of skin, nails, teeth, sweat, tears, eyes, breast milk
All of these side effects may not occur in one time. Side effects other than those listed in this medication guide may also occur. Talk to your doctor if side effects that seem unusual or especially bothersome occur.
Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. Talk to your doctor before using any medicines. Minotabs and some medicines may interfere with each other.
Before taking Minotabs tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
antacids
vitamins that contain aluminum, bismuth, calcium, magnesium or iron
quinapril
iron tablets
zinc salts
kaolin
tripotassium dicitratobismuthate
acitretin
isotretinoin
tretinoin
warfarin
diuretic medicines
penicillins
oral contraceptive pill
Depending on the reaction of the Minotabs after taken, if you are feeling dizziness, drowsiness or any weakness as a reaction on your body, Then consider Minotabs not safe to drive or operate heavy machine after consumption. Meaning that, do not drive or operate heavy duty machines after taking the capsule if the capsule has a strange reaction on your body like dizziness, drowsiness. As prescribed by a pharmacist, it is dangerous to take alcohol while taking medicines as it exposed patients to drowsiness and health risk. Please take note of such effect most especially when taking Primosa capsule. It's advisable to consult your doctor on time for a proper recommendation and medical consultations.
Is Minotabs addictive or habit forming?Medicines are not designed with the mind of creating an addiction or abuse on the health of the users. Addictive Medicine is categorically called Controlled substances by the government. For instance, Schedule H or X in India and schedule II-V in the US are controlled substances.
